Mothers

Still haven’t gotten that special lady the perfect Mother’s Day gift? Here are a few children’s books that any mother would go crazy for, even if just to read to herself.

Love You Forever

by Robert Munsch

Reason why Mom will love it:

“Well, that mother, she got older. She got older and older and older. One day she called up her son and said, ‘You’d better come see me because I’m very old and sick.’ So her son came to see her. When he came in the door she tried to sing the song. She sang:

I’ll love you forever,
I’ll like you for always…

But she couldn’t finish because she was too old and sick. The son went to his mother. He picked her up and rocked her back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And he sang this song:

I’ll love you forever,
I’ll like you for always,
As long as I’m living
my Mommy you’ll be.”

Someday

by Alison McGhee

Reason why Mom will love it:

This deeply personal book will touch any mother who has had to watch her beautiful and playful baby girl grow into a young woman and eventually leave her side…but mothers never really leave our sides do they? “Someday, a long time from now, your own hair will glow silver in the sun. And when that day comes, love, you will remember me.”

I Will Hold You ’til You Sleep

by Linda Zuckerman

Reason by Mom will love it:

This book shares the same tender messages as the above mentioned titles: loving your child through all life’s milestones, holding them and comforting them. But this book has such stunning and unique artwork. This is the book for any mom with an eye for art.

Happy Early Mother’s Day!
