Some (but not all) responsibilities:
1. Maintain my slush pile and send requests/rejections.
2. You will be responsible for writing up reader reports on requested manuscripts (you will be shown how to do this if unfamiliar).
3. Queries and manuscript responsibilities should take anywhere from 5-10 hours a week. Sometimes, however, I will give you a few other tasks like researching editors, reading existing client manuscripts or proposals, etc. Many of these additional tasks will be part of your training.
4. Please look at what I represent and make sure you’re comfortable and familiar with (the majority of) those genres: https://agentbree.wordpress.com/about-bree-ogden/ (scroll down past my bio)
•This is a remote position.
•You can set your own work schedule.
•This is an unpaid internship, but if you feel agenting is the career for you, I will teach you some of the basics, basically you’ll be getting great exposure to the publishing industry. Several of my interns have gone on to work in the publishing industry, most notably, Maria Vicente of P.S. Literary.
If interested, please fill out the following form.
I will be accepting applications until October 1st 2015.
Feel free to email me with any questions about the internship at bree (at) redsofaliterary dot com.
